Just for fun: Ball's eye view


If you're a fan of American football, you've undoubtedly seen the game from every angle. Except one, that is. Thanks to the work of Kris Kitani and others from Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Electro-Communications, Tokyo, we now have the football's view of the game. 

The researchers added a camera to a football, but more importantly, created an algorithm to translate the raw blur of motion (left) into something watchable (right):





The researchers don't expect to see this ball (shown below) used in standard play.
